The Seminary

Seminario Teológico de Santiago

Many churches in the Dominican Republic (DR) are pastored by those who have not yet had formal seminary training. In order to meet this need and because most pastors and other leaders interested in this training are working secular jobs as well as ministering at some level, the Santiago Theological Seminary (STS) has developed a creative program that allows students to successfully balance life, family, ministry, and educational demands.

The seminary’s programs are integrative, holistic and Christo-centered, combining knowledge, experience, and collaborative learning. The seminary utilizes a combination of face-to-face teaching, distance learning, and application projects. All students are part of a mentorship program that is coordinated by the local DR pastors.

Our goal is to become self-sufficient, with graduates eventually becoming professors. We desire to be a model for all the Caribbean and the rest of Latin America, so our development is contextualized to the DR setting through collaboration with DR professors and pastors and also adaptable to the other Latin American countries.
